Recap: 10 Tips for Driving Traffic to Your Web Site
Monte: So, let’s sum this up, Jay. Just to go over them one more time just from a 30,000 foot view to give everybody a chance to win, so they can post it up, and we can start giving away some of the prizes.
Jay: Okay. Tip #1 is to optimize your site for search engine traffic; and we just gave you the basics is 1) doing your meta-tags, 2) adding those same keywords to the copy on your site, and 3) building links to your site from other sites. Tip #2 is purchasing the paid search placements on Google and Overture. Tip #3 is adding a signature to all of your email, asking all of your employees to also add your web site address beneath their name at the bottom of all your email. Tip #4 is signing up a virtual sales force, setting up an affiliate program, and getting those people to drive traffic to your site in exchange for a payment. Tip #5 was using viral marketing, word-of-mouth marketing. Creating something so cool, so interesting on your site that other people would refer their friends and co-workers to that tool and getting them to your site. Tip #6 is sending an email to all of your customers. Your best source of revenue is your current customers. Tip #7 is using a banner trade or link trade with vendors or complimentary suppliers. You give them some traffic and they’ll trade some traffic back to you. Tip #8 is listing your web address on everything you’re doing, on all of your packaging, emails, business cards, and all the physical products you ship to customers. Tip #9 is writing articles for great web sites and relevant publications. Tip #10 is turning the powerful new tool, it’s really relatively a new tool of web optimized press releases through companies like PRWeb that will send a lot of traffic back to your site and get picked up all over the internet.
Monte: Well, those are great tips; and again, every week we’re going to probably do a 10 top tips to driving traffic and promoting your domain name, and all these various marketing tips to building an online brand and identity on the web. And, again, for those of you who want to see more detail, we do have it posted in our monthly and quarterly newsletter that’s located on Moniker.com in the DomaiNEWZ section. We’ve published, I don’t know, about 6 sets of these top 10 tips in helping build online identity and brand value to your web site, which ultimately increases the value of your domain name and promotes a future successful business for your website.
Jay: Great. And I’ll post all the links we talked about now.
Monte: Okay, so if everybody would get started, you can post the top 10 list. We’ll keep track of them here in the studio; and then hopefully, by the end of the show, we’ll announce the winners and have you guys email us and we’ll provide the promotion codes for tomorrow. Jay, you can hang on. We’re going to break for a little advertising break, and we’re going to be back shortly with David Warmuz from Trellian. We look forward to being with you in a couple minutes.
