Opening Remarks with Monte Cahn, host of Domain Masters
Monte: Hello everybody its Monte Cahn. Welcome to Domain Masters. Glad to have you on this week. Waiting for some more people to get in to the chat room. If you have not logged in yet please go to webmaster radio and log into the chat room so we can have some conversation here. What a week we had last week. We were in wonderful Las Vegas. We bought Mom a new pair of shoes. Didn’t lose too much. We were there for internext and CES and got a lot of business done and had a great show last week. Ron Jackson was on live last week. We talked about the 2004 year which was a great year from a domain standpoint kicked off by webfathersellingmen.com right before the turn of the year last year. Set the sights for a great year in 2004. PPC payments went up for everybody. Everybody started monetizing their domain names. We had some great domain sales to report. We participated in a lot of big sales as well. We expect 2005 to be a great year to come. Today on the show we have Stephen Lieberman who is with Greenberg and Lieberman in Maryland. It’s a pretty well known patent and trademark law firm. They do specialize in patent and trademark law and also domain law. He’s got a pretty famous case to talk about today involving the domain name kiwi.com. We had such a successful show with John Barryhill a few weeks ago actually on our show opener that we decided that were gonna have a legal specialist in the industry on a regular basis to talk about various issues regarding domain law so that everybody can protect their assets and know what’s going on with the current ICANN regulations, what’s going on in domain law and property protection and try to give as many tips as possible on protecting assets, on strategies to keep those assets safe as we want to monetize those domain names in the future. So, Stephen will be on in a little bit. We’re gonna talk at length with him and answer any questions that anybody has in the chat room. Next week, we’re gonna have a great show as well. I’ll have Howard Neu from NeuLaw on the show and probably Richard Lau who started an ICANN accredited registrar several years ago and MyDomains sometime before that so he’ll be a great guest as well. So we’re gonna break for commercial and pay some bills and we’ll be right back in a couple minutes with Stephen Lieberman. Take a quick few minutes out and have a cup of coffee and come on back.
Commercial Break
And we’re back.
Monte: Oh, okay. I was just waiting for the show opener again. So welcome back to domain masters. I want to welcome our first guest, actually our only guest tonight, Stephen Lieberman. Again, Stephen is a trademark and attorney up in, a trademark attorney and domain attorney specialist up in Maryland. Welcome Stephen.
Stephen: How are ya?
Monte: Pretty good how are you doing?
Stephen: Not so bad.
Monte: Yeah and I heard you just got back from a three week vacation in Kabo?
Stephen: Shh. Don’t tell anyone.
Monte: (laughs) Oh that was suppose to be a secret?
Stephen: Yeah, definitely.
Monte: Oh okay.
Stephen: Everyone is suppose to think I’m working hard at all times.
Monte: Oh okay. Well I heard because Sandy Hagaar called me and said you drank all of his Kabo Wabo down there.
Stephen: Well, that might have been true.
Monte: (laughs) So how are you on tequila to be honest?
Stephen: Well I drink and I fall down so I guess I’m pretty good on it.
Monte: (laughs) That’s good. That’s good. Well welcome to Domain Masters. For those of you that don’t know, I’ve been working with Stephen for quite some time. We manage a couple of his clients. We have had a great relationship over the past couple years and it’s a pleasure to have you on the show.
Stephen: My pleasure.
