Monte: Hello, everyone. Welcome to another week’s broadcast of Domain Masters. I’m really excited about today’s show. Hopefully everyone’s had a great week. Today, I have some really great guests, one of which is Richard Lau, who I’ll be speaking to first.

Richard helped start some of the most successful domain-related companies on the internet, including MyDomains and also owned a registrar called NamesDirect back in 2000, which was a top 30 [inaudible] ICANN registrar.

He’s an expert in PPC modification, domain sales, won the Domainer of the Year Award at Traffic Conference back in October, so I’m real excited to have him on board.

Shortly thereafter, I’ll have Howard Neu, who’s another domain legal expert. Howard was also the former mayor of Miami Beach, and was a judge and has had a great deal of experience with domain-related issues, has clients all around the world. And because of our legal success with guests and some of the issues that we cover, we feel we should cover legal-related issues on a regular basis.

So we’re going to break and pay some bills for commercial and we’ll be right back with Richard Lau and kick off the show, and we look forward to having a great broadcast tonight.

Welcome back everyone. Welcome to the show. I wanted to give you kind of a little intro to my first guest, Richard Lau. Richard’s been in the domain name business since, I think, before 1998, but he helped start one of the first companies related to domain names, called Yournamefree.com back then, which was a free domain registration processing service, and again helped start NamesDirect, which was a top 30 [inaudible] ICANN registrar.

He was one of the founders of Mydomain.com, which was a free domain management and DNS service, which was later sold and merged with NameZero. He now has a lot of current projects on the table, including Freephotos.com, Domainmanager.com, he assists with domain recoveries for hijacked domains, consults with [inaudible] registrars [inaudible] issues, brokers, high traffic to domain owners and to various companies, and we have a lot of interesting things to talk about. Richard, are you on board?

Richard: I am. Can you hear me okay?

Monte: Yes, I sure can. Welcome to the show.

Richard: I’m glad to be here.

Monte: And thank you for taking the time. You’re in the beautiful city of Vancouver, right?

Richard: Yeah, up in Vancouver, Canada, not Vancouver, Washington.

Monte: Yes, Vancouver, Canada.

Richard: Yes.

Monte: Although they’re kind of close.

Richard: Yeah, about six hours away.

Monte: Well, that’s close to the homes of one of my favorite ski resorts, Whistler and Blackum [ph], I love that place. I’ve been there a couple of times and the people are so nice and the skiing conditions are great. I assume you’re a skier, too, right?

Richard: A snowboarder now, I’ve converted.
