Monte: Hello everybody. Welcome to Domain Masters. I’m Monte Cahn, your host. Thank you for changing your schedules today, as you know we had to change the time from 7 o’clock to 3 o’clock Eastern Standard Time, to accommodate our SES event and also to get some exciting guests on board. Today, I have the great pleasure of having Jake Baille, who’s one of the leaders for a new local search engine called TrueLocal, and he’s gonna talk to us about his project, and also some SEO tips and tricks for all you domainers and website gurus out there. He’s been an SEO for some time and pretty successful at it.
And then I’m gonna have Brett Crosby, who’s the vice president of marketing for Urchin. Urchin is one of the top, if not the best web analytics company in the web, and we’re gonna talk about how important web stats and analytics are, and how it can really improve your business and your online identity. They have one of the best solutions and offerings out on the marketplace, and Moniker’s gonna be offering their products and services as a partner, as well, to our network and to our customers.
And with a luck, we’re gonna have Tim Mayer on, possibly. He’s in a conference and speaking right now, but he might stop by after that. Tim Mayer’s basically the head of Yahoo Search, and he’s busy on a panel right now, but hopefully he’ll drop by. So we’ll be back in about two minutes. We’re gonna head to some commercials and be back with Jake Baille. Hang on.
Hello. Welcome back to Domain Masters. I’m on queue cards today. And by the way, I’m not in the chat room, so I can’t see your questions, but I’ll probably get them referred to me. We’re again live at SES, the Search Engine Strategies Conference in New York, put on by Jupiter Media. It’s a very well and heavily attended event. There’s thousands of web masters, SEO, Search Engine Optimizers, companies that feed that market place. And we are glad to support this effort and have Jake Baille on board--
Jake: Hey.
Monte: --who’s one the SEO gurus of the industry, and we’re gonna talk a little bit about some tips and tricks for SEO and websites and website optimization. And Jake, welcome to the show.
Jake: Thanks, man. My goal is to be on every Webmaster Radio Show this week without doing my own, so.
Monte: All right, Jake just got off the air on Cover Story, I believe, right?
Jake: Yeah, [inaudible].
Monte: So hopefully you have a little bit different audience here. We have some of our domain followers on board.
Jake: Awesome.
Monte: And I think that you have a lot to offer to the domain community. First of all, you own a ton of domain names, yourself and your business, correct?
Jake: Yeah, that’s correct.
Monte: How long have you had domain names?
Jake: Oh, shees [ph] well, I want to say I bought my first domain name back in 1996.
Monte: Oh, wow, an early bird.
Jake: Network Solutions, I think I paid $125 or something for--
Monte: Yeah, that’s about right.
Jake: --it. Yeah.
Monte: That’s when I got in it.
Jake: Yeah. So a long time.
Monte: Yeah.
Jake: A long time.
Monte: And what have you been doing with your names ever since then?
Jake: Well, I’ve sold a couple of them. Some of the ones I’ve had in ’96 and ’97 I’ve sold. Not for a tall amount of money, but, you know, for drinking money for a few weeks, and a couple--
Monte: A few nights, you mean?
Jake: Yeah, a few nights.
[Laughter]
Jake: And then a few others I’ve just had. I have some interesting ones. I have MetroSexual.org, some ones like that, so, you know.
Monte: Hey, that’s good. Hey, we’re simulcasted, so it’s good.
Jake: Yeah, awesome.
[Laughter]
