Opening Remarks with Monte Cahn, host of Domain Masters
Monte: Welcome to Domain Masters. I’m Monte Cahn, your host. I am happy to be back in the lovely Boca Studios. We’ve been away for a couple of weeks. As everyone knows, we were at SES in New York; and if anybody didn’t know, last week we ran our show from SES New York because we had a schedule change from 7:00 to 3:00 -- and it was a good show, and I’m glad we reran it, because a lot of people wanted to listen to the folks that we had on. We had Jake Bailey on and the folks from Urchin on, and we just had a really good show. Tonight I’m really psyched to make up any lost time with you. I have Tim Mayer on, who is the Director of Product Management for the U.S. search company Yahoo! and Tim has been responsible for the product direction of Yahoo! Search and has over 10 years of experience; comes with a wealth of knowledge in the search space. He’s been with Overture, Inktomi, and a number of different companies. He’ll be on in a little bit. And I have Stephanie Leffler on, who is the CEO of Monster Commerce; and we’re going to have a really good show. We’re going to really get into some ways these companies can help domainers and webmasters improve profitability and their bottom line and some of the tricks of the trade. Similar to when we had Matt Cutts on from Google, we’re going to learn some things maybe people didn’t know about a Yahoo! search and their change in marketing strategy with Overture becoming now Yahoo! Search. I had the pleasure of attending the great party in New York that was put on by Webmaster Radio, and it was a lot of fun. So, we’ll be back to you in a couple minutes. We’re going to run some commercials, and we’ll be back with Tim Mayer.
(Went to commercials)
Monte: Alright, welcome back to Domain Masters. Before we have Tim on, just make sure you guys log into the chat room and Tim’s online and he’s going to answer any questions that come up. I’m going to try and catch him also in the chat room. I also have Victor Pitts on from our office who will help with some questions as well. I’m really excited to have Tim on from Yahoo! I know that it’s been very hard to get him on the show. We tried to do it as SES, and he happened to be on a panel the same time that we were doing our show a couple weeks ago. So, Tim, welcome on board.
Tim: Yea, thanks very much, Monte. It’s good to finally be on the show. I know we were trying to do it last week; but, I got talking to Eric Meyer, who is a big CSS guru and we had a little chat.
Monte: You guys related? (laughs)
Tim: (inaudible) the panel, so I completely missed the show, which is too bad.
Monte: Yea., well I knew that you tried, that you came afterwards after we already wound up. I’m really happy to have you on. Thanks for taking the time out. I know there’s a lot of people that are listening out there that want to hear what’s going on with Yahoo! Search and what is going on with Overture these days. I know from personal experience we’ve had experience with Overture and have a lot of our PPC solutions running on those pages and what I would really like to do on your segment is really get into some tricks and tips for people to really help them optimize their revenues and, you know, PPC revenues and their landing pages and help Webmasters who are engaged in projects for advertisers and companies to give them more presence and talk about some of the products and services that you guys offer and maybe get into some of the things that people don’t know about Yahoo! Search, some of the tools; and I understand that you guys came out with a product or two that were announced today, and talk about some of those items as well.
Tim: Yea, it sounds great.
