Selling domain names with Moniker and SnapNames

Moniker and SnapNames are the go-to resource for getting domain names to market. If you have domain names to sell, our dynamic marketplace offers many options all offer a global audience of motivated buyers.

Select from a variety of means to get your domains in front of potential buyers:

Selling in the Daily Auction

The SnapNames Daily Auction Listing is a comprehensive online market to list your domains for sale. You set up your listing and SnapNames takes care of the rest.

Getting started is simple:

Step 1: Create your free SnapNames and Moniker accounts.

Step 2: The SnapNames auction works hand-in-glove with Moniker behind the scenes, so any listed domains must be registered at Moniker first. If your domains are not at Moniker, you’ll need to transfer them to your Moniker account first – this enables us to handle the transfers and collections for you. No work at all for you to complete a sale!

Step 3: Launch the SnapNames seller dashboard.

Step 4: Choose auction format: Auction, Make Offer or Buy-It-Now.

Step 5: Schedule and provide listing details and watch the bidding.

Step 6: When the transaction is complete, SnapNames takes care of billing, collection and transfer – it’s a hands-off, hassle-free system. You get 80 percent of the sale price, our commission is 20 percent.

Just about any domain name can be listed, with some restrictions – including domains based on registered trademarks or that suggest illegal activity.

Submit a domain for the Showcase

If you think your domain name has e-commerce or search potential, it might be a candidate for the Monthly Showcase – a monthly special auction for hand-picked domains that draw buyer attention and generate activity.

Each Showcase includes domains that fit within a specific theme or category. The Showcase starts the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. ET (noon PT) and ends the following Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. ET (12:15 p.m. PT).

Submitting a domain name is easy, but must be completed at least two weeks before the auction starts:

Step 1: Create your free SnapNames and Moniker accounts.

Step 2: Visit the Showcase Auction Headquarters calendar. Follow links to find Showcase Auctions that are accepting submissions.

Step 3: Read the submission guidelines.

Step 4: Click “Submit Domain Now” to submit domains for consideration.

For each domain submitted, include reserve prices and any third-party statistics that demonstrate value.

The Moniker and SnapNames domain experts review all of the submissions and pick the best of the best for each Showcase.

The auction catalog is posted one week before the auction start.

The Live Auction Event – for domain name superstars

If you’re sitting on a domain name with “wow” factor, it might be a candidate for an upcoming Live Auction Event.

Moniker Live Auctions are anticipated events reserved for high-octane, high-value, marquis-level domains. Seller, bidders and buyers attend the event in person. And using SnapNames LIVE technology to bid remotely online, buyers watch and bid from around the world.

To get started:

Step 1: Create your free SnapNames and Moniker accounts.

Step 2: Log in and visit Live Auction Headquarters.

Step 3: Follow the links for Live Auction domain submission.

Step 4: Set reserve and provide any third-party statistics that may help better position your names for sale.

Submissions are accepted beginning a few months before the Live Auction date.
