Domain Auction tops $5.4 million in domain sales
Next Live Auction stop: Las Vegas, January 17th, 2007

One of the most anticipated events to happen in the domain industry took place in October at the TRAFFIC East Conference in Hollywood, Florida. Moniker, the first and only company to offer Domain Asset Management services, produced the largest Domain Auction event to date topping $5.4 million in domain sales. The top selling domain was Cameras.com featuring a winning bid of $1.5 million.

A dozen domains topped the $100,000 mark in the Live Auction held on Friday of the Conference, totaling more than $2.8 million all together. Other successes included strong domains with non-.com extensions, including an excellent showing for .mobi domains. Not only did all 10 .mobi domains in the auction sell, but Flowers.mobi sold for $200,000, taking honors as the second highest-selling domain, and Fun.mobi coming in at $100,000, respectably rounding out the top 12.

Moniker is currently accepting submissions for consideration in the upcoming live auction events. If you'd like to offer a domain up for auction, visit the Live Auction section in our new Marketplace system. The domain does not need to be registered with Moniker to qualify. How domains will be selected

Domains will be selected based on appraised value, marketability, traffic and other statistics important to the domain market, such as incoming links, etc. In addition, since the buyers in every auction room are different, Moniker asks the bidders attending each event to log on before the auction and indicate their interest in the master list of domains. Domains with the most interest from auction attendees will also make the cut. The remaining names may be considered for a companion Silent Auction that will also take place during the conference.
